What are Alarm Packs?
Alarm Packs are DIY home security systems, designed to protect your home, right out of the box. From apartments to large family houses, we have Alarm Packs designed for every size of property and bundles that allow you to add extra security wherever you need it.
Alarm Packs are simple enough that they can be installed without any tools or professional installation. Simply place a Contact Sensor on any door or window in your home, and choose to get a mobile notification whenever they are opened. You can also place a Motion Detector in any room of your home, and get a notification whenever motion is detected. Add Outdoor Siren outside your home so you can alert others if an emergency arises.
Do I have to purchase an Alarm Pack? Or can I buy the system piece by piece?
Ring Alarm Base Station controls the entire Alarm system and is only available with an Alarm Pack. Alarm Base Station cannot be purchased separately, so to get started with Alarm, you need to purchase an Alarm Pack. There are Alarm Packs designed for homes big and small, so no matter where you live there's a solution to suit you.
Once you have an Alarm Pack, additional Contact Sensors, Motion Detectors, Outdoor Sirens, Keypads and Range Extenders can be purchased separately to expand the coverage of your system. 1st and 2nd generation devices and accessories are compatible and will connect with Alarm Base Station to protect your entire home.
Which Alarm Packs are available?
Currently, there are four types of Alarm Pack available:
Alarm Pack
These packs come with Alarm Base Station, Alarm Keypad, Alarm Range Extender, Contact Sensors and Motion Detectors. The number of Contact Sensors and Motion Detectors included will depend on the Alarm Pack chosen. Alarm Packs are also available with an included Outside Siren, so you can notify others in an emergency.
Alarm + Indoor Cam Pack
Along with all the benefits of an Alarm Pack, these also include the tiny but mighty Indoor Cam. Small enough to go almost anywhere, Indoor Cam can be linked with your Ring Alarm in the Ring app so you can see what's happening whenever an Alarm event occurs.
Alarm + Stick Up Cam Pack
For added peace of mind inside or out, get an Alarm Pack with the versatile Stick Up Cam. Whether you install it indoors or outdoors, you can link Stick Up Cam with Alarm in the Ring app and check what's going on whenever a Contact Sensor or Motion Detector is triggered.
How do I sign up for Alarm Calls?
You can sign up for Alarm Calls by purchasing a compatible Ring Subscription.
Ring Solo also gives you Cellular Backup, Device Modes to remotely arm and disarm your alarm from the Ring app. Ring Solo covers one device at a single location.
Ring Multi includes everything in Ring Solo, covers all your Ring devices at a single location, with advanced features for Video Doorbells and Security Cameras to protect your whole home.
All Alarm Security Kits include a 30-day free trial of Ring Protect. After the trial ends, you can purchase a subscription.

What happens if the power or internet goes out?
Alarm comes with a 24-hour backup battery [1] that kicks in whenever the power at home goes out. You can also get Cellular Backup with a Ring Subscription so your system can stay online during an outage.
Can I use Alarm without Alarm Calls?
Yes. Without Alarm Calls, you can still choose to receive mobile and email notifications whenever Alarm detects a security threat at your home, so you can self-monitor your property from anywhere. However, without a subscription, you also won't have access to Cellular Backup to keep your system online if your internet goes down.
Does Alarm offer Alarm Calls for commercial businesses?
No. We recommend Alarm is used on residential properties only.
