That's why today, we're excited to announce that Neighbours is coming to the UK later this October.
Introducing Neighbours: Bringing Your Community Together
We built Neighbours because we believe that when communities work together, safer neighbourhoods become a reality. Neighbours is a free, community-powered space in the Ring app that's open to everyone – whether you own a Ring device or not.
Think of it as a noticeboard for your community. A place to share a heads up on a road closure, flag a safety concern in your area, post about a severe weather warning, or rally the neighbourhood to help find a missing dog. These are the everyday moments where a simple connection between neighbours can make all the difference, and that's exactly what Neighbours was designed for: neighbours helping neighbours.
Getting started is simple. Already a Ring customer? Neighbours will appear directly in your Ring app this October. If new to Ring, download the Ring app and plug in your address to create a radius around your home. You control the boundaries of your Neighbourhood and can customise your content feed and notifications so that you only get updates and see posts that are meaningful to you.
Search Party for Dogs: A New Way to Help Bring Lost Dogs Home
One of the first features available through Neighbours in the UK is Search Party for Dogs – a community-powered tool designed to help reunite lost dogs with their families.
Dogs aren't just pets, they're family. And because every family member deserves the same support, we want to make sure they’re looked after too.
Since launching in the US, Search Party for Dogs has helped bring home more than one lost dog a day – proof of what’s possible when neighbours look out for one another and have the right tools to help when something happens.
Thousands of dogs go missing in the UK every year. According to the latest Dogs Trust Stray Dog Survey, more than 25,000 dogs entered the care of local authorities over the last year – and only about 38% of those were actually reunited with their owners. With Search Party for Dogs, we hope to change that.
When a dog goes missing, communities rally – they share sightings on social media, spread the word via group texts, and pin posters to lampposts. Search Party for Dogs extends that community effort as an additional tool within Neighbours, designed to help reunite lost dogs with their families more effectively than ever before.
Anyone can report a missing dog on Neighbours. Just upload a photo, or create a Pet Profile for your dog, and add the details of when your dog went missing. Customers with an active Ring device can also initiate a Search Party, where neighbours’ participating outdoor Ring cameras start looking out for their missing dog. If spotted, the camera owner will be notified of a potential match and can choose to share their footage with the dog's owner to help support a reunion. It's neighbours working together to bring lost dogs home quickly.
You're Always in Control
Like all of the features that we build, privacy and customer control are at the forefront of Neighbours and Search Party for Dogs.
With Neighbours, you choose whether to participate and post, when and what to share, and what kind of content you see. Only the content you make publicly available can be viewed by other residents in your area.
Your privacy is protected at every level. Names and addresses are never displayed or shared. If you’d like to be contacted about your post, you can enable the Contact Me feature, which protects personal details. We’ve also created community guidelines and built-in content moderation to keep Neighbours a productive, respectful space for everyone.
Similarly, with Search Party for Dogs, participation is voluntary. You review your own clips and decide what happens next – nobody sees your video unless you actively choose to share it. And camera owners can turn the feature on or off at any time in the Ring Control Centre.
Availability
Starting later in October, UK residents can access Neighbours directly within the Ring app. It’s free to use and available to everyone – whether you have a Ring device or not. We also plan to make additional Neighbours community features, like Community Requests and Neighbours Verified, available in the UK in the coming months.
