More Than Just a Latte: How Ring's NeighbourGood Café Tour is Transforming Community Safety

At Ring, we believe it takes a community to keep neighbourhoods safe and that safety starts with connection—a wave, a shared concern, or even a chat over coffee can make all the difference.

That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the NeighbourGood Café Tour, an exciting collaboration between Ring and Crimestoppers. In 2026, we’re turning local coffee shops across the UK into hubs of community connection and safety advice.

The best news is - you're all invited! So join us for a free coffee, learn about affordable home security solutions, and discover how to build a safer neighbourhood together

Building Safer Neighbourhoods, Together

Research we conducted shows the powerful combination of smart technology and strong neighbourhood connections in creating safer communities. For example, 41% of people believe that Security Cameras, Video Doorbells, and trusting their neighbours are the most effective tools for preventing crime. Additionally, 72% would willingly share suspicious footage from their home security cameras with neighbours, while 75% report feeling safer in areas where neighbours regularly communicate.

Key factors contributing to safety include security devices (42%), better lighting (41%), and knowing neighbours (39%). Furthermore, 68% of people trust their neighbours to alert them to unusual activity while they’re away. These findings highlight the importance of blending smart technology with neighbourly trust—an idea we’re bringing to life through the NeighbourGood Café Tour, fostering connection, collaboration, and safer communities.

Espresso Yourself: Technology Meets Community

The concept behind the NeighbourGood Café is simple: bring people together in a relaxed and welcoming setting to talk about home and community safety. For many, smart home technology can feel intimidating or overly complicated. But we’re here to show you just how simple and accessible tools like Video Doorbells and Security Cameras can be.

Whether you’re already a tech enthusiast or just curious to learn more, our experts will be on hand to answer all your questions. They’ll demonstrate how combining user-friendly technology with community spirit can help reduce crime. Because when neighbours come together and stay connected, they create a powerful barrier against crime, making everyone feel more secure.

A Huddersfield Success Story

To illustrate the power of community and technology working in harmony, let’s look at a real-life example. David Collins, a retiree from Huddersfield, experienced first hand that smart security tools and neighbourly support can transform a community. After moving into his new home, David decided to install some Ring Security Cameras. Not long after, they captured clear footage of intruders attempting to break into his property. Thanks to the high-quality footage, the police were able to quickly identify and prosecute the thieves.

But the story didn’t end there. Motivated by the incident, David collaborated with local police to start a Neighbourhood Watch group. Word spread quickly, and membership grew as more neighbours installed their own security devices and began looking out for one another. The results were remarkable—crime in the area dropped to nearly zero. David’s story highlights how communities can thrive when people come together, take action, and support each other.

We’re not just stopping at coffee and conversation. At each tour stop, we’ll also donate £1,000 worth of Ring security devices to a local charity. This ensures that smart security solutions can reach those who need them most, further reinforcing our commitment to building safer communities.

Coming to a City Near You

Leeds is just the beginning. Throughout 2026, the NeighbourGood Café Tour will be visiting cities across the UK, including:

• Ju Ju’s Cafe - Birmingham  - Saturday 28th March (10am-5pm)Chill at the Cow Shed - Bolton, Greater Manchester - Sunday 29th March (10am-5pm)

Each stop will provide the same welcoming atmosphere, expert advice, and inspiring stories as we work together to strengthen communities, one cup of coffee at a time.

Dave Ward, Managing Director EU and International at Ring, sums it up perfectly: “The best home security isn't just about technology, it's about neighbours who genuinely know each other. A cup of coffee and a conversation might sound simple, but that's exactly how David's community group began. We want our NeighbourGood Café to be the beginning of something lasting - like neighbours exchanging numbers, setting up group chats and keeping an eye out for each other, long after we've left town.”

Why Community Connection Matters

The idea behind the NeighbourGood Café goes beyond home security—it’s about fostering real connections in a world that’s increasingly digital. When neighbours know and trust each other, they’re more likely to work together to prevent crime and support one another in times of need. A connected community is a safer, stronger one.

The Café Tour also aims to make smart security accessible to everyone. Whether you’re renting your first flat, raising a family, or enjoying retirement, tools like Video Doorbells and Security Cameras are designed to be affordable, easy to use, and adaptable to every stage of life. By pairing these tools with community collaboration, we can create a safer environment for all.
