While many of us look forward to family fun as the holiday season approaches, countless dogs around the country find themselves patiently waiting to find a family of their own. This Christmas, Ring has partnered with Dogs Trust, the UK's leading canine welfare charity, to bring festive cheer to dogs being cared for by foster carers.
The Dogs Trust's Home from Home fostering scheme relies on volunteers to provide a temporary happy place for dogs around the country. Last year, the scheme cared for 3,585 dogs. The charity is currently caring for around 1,600 dogs in foster homes and rehoming centres, and they do everything they can to give every dog a happy place while in their care, until they’ve found a forever home.
Our foster carers are a very important part of Dogs Trust and the dog’s journey to their forever home. Adam Clowes, Operations Director at Dogs Trust told us.
Spreading paws-itivity
To help support the work of Dogs Trust, we are launching our Christmas Treataway Service exclusively for foster carers in Dogs Trust’s Home from Home scheme.
Dave Ward, Managing Director EU & International at Ring said: Christmas Treataways aren’t just about delivering festive goodies – it's about bringing joy and security to foster dogs and their carers during a time when it matters most. At Ring, we believe every member of the family deserves to feel safe and cared for, and that includes our furry friends in need of homes this holiday season.
This limited edition service will deliver a canine-friendly three-course Christmas tasting dinner, a festive dog toy and a Ring Indoor Camera, so foster carers can stay close to their four-legged guests during the holiday season.
The new Christmas Treataway menu includes a dog-friendly roasted turkey crown, with turkey bone-broth gravy and roasted sweet potatoes. The all important sides also include pigs-in-blankets, sprouts, carrots and - a Yorkshire Paw-ding. For dessert, foster pooches can enjoy their very own canine-safe Christmas pie, accompanied by a ‘Dogg-egg-nogg’.
Christmas Treataways have been specially made to be tasty and safe for our four-legged friends, as it’s important for dogs to stick to dog-friendly food and avoid toxic ingredients. New food should be introduced gradually and in moderation and guidance on how to introduce the food safely is provided so upset tummies can be avoided.
We’re delighted Ring is giving our foster dogs an extra special treat this Christmas, and we hope it inspires more people to consider fostering. Adam Clowes continued.
Whether they're popping out to pick presents, or decking the halls around their home, foster carers will be able to check in on their favourite pooch from wherever they are with their free Ring Indoor Camera (2nd Gen).
On Friday 13th December, Dogs Trust Home from Home foster carers in Basildon, Manchester, Cardiff, Kenilworth and Canterbury can order a free Christmas Treataway by visiting ring.com/treataways.
Want to get involved?
To help raise further awareness of fostering, Ring is hosting a doggy taster event for potential and current foster carers in London. Attendees can bring their pups and learn from the Dogs Trust team and current fellow foster carers on the basics of fostering, try a Treataway or enjoy a Christmas doggy photo booth. Attendees who donate to Dogs Trust can also take home a free Christmas Treataway for their own pup!
