Following a nationwide search, Azkah Sardar from Glasgow has been selected to become the first ever Scottish voice to feature on a Ring Video Doorbell.
It means a lot to be chosen as Ring’s Voice of the Nation. I thought it was a really cool idea as it hadn't been done before, so I thought I’d go along to the auditions and just give it a shot. Azkah told us.
After hearing the radio announcement about the casting search, 23-year-old medical student Azkah decided to push past her naturally shy nature and take a chance. Her bold move paid off - at the Glasgow Silverburn auditions, she emerged as the top choice from more than 300 applicants across Scotland who auditioned for this unique opportunity with Ring, in a campaign supported by renowned Scottish radio DJ and TV personality Edith Bowman.
Scotland isn’t a huge place, but we have so much to offer. We’re not as represented as we should be and it’s amazing that Ring is making steps towards making it happen. Not many big brands go the extra mile to use regional accents in their technology, so I think this campaign has been fantastic. Azkah continued.

Edith Bowman helped judge the auditions in collaboration with Ring and said Azkah's enthusiasm and good energy stood her apart from the rest of the competition.
Azkah is a brilliant choice for Scotland’s Voice of the Nation. We were looking for someone with lots of energy, enthusiasm and personality and that’s exactly what we got. Edith said.
Our search for a new Voice of the Nation was inspired by compelling research showing the Scottish accent's widespread appeal in the UK, with 44% of respondents ranking it among the most approachable accents. The study revealed strong regional pride, with 78% of Scottish people expressing satisfaction in their accent's welcoming nature, particularly noting its distinctive charm and wit.
Speaking about the Voice of the Nation search, Edith told us: I’ve loved being a part of something so innovative and celebratory, it’s been great seeing this campaign come to life.
