Denny's Doorstep Carollers Bring a Christmas Tradition Back to Life.

Remember that feeling when something genuinely heartwarming lands unexpectedly in your social media feed? That's exactly what happened when five lads from Denny, Scotland decided to go carolling – and a Ring Video Doorbell captured every magical moment.

Their spontaneous performance captured hearts across the nation, racking up nearly two million views and inspiring something truly special...

Carolling for a Cause: Supporting Strathcarron Hospice

The infectious joy and community spirit from the Denny Five inspired us to launch #RingAndSing – a nationwide campaign to revive the beloved tradition of Christmas carolling while supporting a cause close to their hearts.

"When we saw the boys' video and read the enormous amount of comments celebrating their performance, we knew we had to do something special," said Dave Ward, Ring's UK & International Managing Director.

"In a world where we're increasingly disconnected from our neighbours, these five lads reminded us of the simple joy that comes from showing up at someone's door and sharing a song."

The boys have already been fundraising for Strathcarron Hospice, a charity that holds a special place in the Denny community. So we're turning #RingAndSing into a force for good.

How you can join in:

Between 8th and 15th of December, capture your own performance of a traditional Christmas carol – such as Deck The Halls – on your Ring Video Doorbell and share it using the 'Share' button in the Ring app with #RingAndSing.

For every video shared, Ring will donate £10 to Strathcarron Hospice. That's right: your carolling could help families who need it most this Christmas.

After hearing about our RingAndSing challenge, Erin Chalmers, the owner of the Video Doorbell that captured the original video, told us, “Strathcarron Hospice has a huge place in my heart. Who’d have thought my Ring Doorbell would bring so much happiness to a nation! Ring are going above and beyond for an amazing cause!”

Plus, the Denny Five will personally select their five favourite performances from the submissions. Those five lucky carollers will receive a £1,000 Amazon Gift Card and a Ring Video Doorbell for their entire road as a thank you for spreading Christmas cheer.

"I can't believe we have been able to give five people a great Christmas through RingAndSing! Merry Christmas everyone, bye love you!" said Dylan Thomson, one of the Denny Five.

Bringing Back a Beloved Tradition

Our research shows that Christmas carolling has declined significantly over recent years – 96% of us have witnessed this decline, with the average person not having seen carollers at their door for four years. But there's genuine appetite to bring it back. After watching the Denny boys' performance, nearly two-thirds (63%) of people said they wish carol singing was more common, while three-quarters (74%) agreed that it brings smiles and spreads joy to their community.

"These boys didn't just create a viral video, they sparked a movement." added Dave. "We're seeing genuine appetite for bringing back these traditions that connect us, one doorstep at a time."

Celebrate the Unexpected with Ring

From 8th December through to 15th December, we're inviting communities across Scotland, the UK, and Ireland to reconnect through song and help us support Strathcarron Hospice this Christmas.
